Internet Thugs You all Need Love

Here’s a question I wonder if anyone can answer: How do you make someone on the Internet take you seriously? Do you use plenty of exclamation points?!!!!!! or how bout using all kinds of F$%*n profanity and S***? Or maybe, and this one is really popular, You TYPE IN ALL CAPS TO LET PEOPLE KNOW YOU’RE NOT PLAYING AROUND?

Guess what? None of those things are the right answer. In fact, there is no right answer because it’s not really possible. Sure, you can articulate yourself in a way that people will choose to respect your opinion about whatever it is you’re saying, but when it’s all said and done, if the nameless, faceless person on the other side of the monitor chooses not to take you seriously, there’s not much you can do about it. What gets on my nerves is that people still haven’t grasped that concept.

Everywhere you look you can see signs of Internet thuggery. Forums, Blogs, Online Gaming… In fact, just yesterday this one dude sent me a message(full of cussing, all caps and exclamation points) on my PSN id after a game of COD, in which my team curb stomped his team in a match. The basics of this message was that I was being ‘cheap’ and that I’m a garbage player who he would f**k up if he ever got the chance…. REALLY? Because making threats to a person who you don’t know and will never be able to find is epitome of hardcore imagery

Westside! whatchu kno bout Dat?

We all know who the real Internet Gangsters are: Hackers and Identity Thieves. If you’re not talking about how you can crash my computer or Steal my Social Security ID, then you’re really not talking about anything, in fact you probably jammed a key in your keyboard while you were ‘angrily typing.’

I won’t drag this out too long because I think I’ve said all there is to say. In Conclusion, I think we all should really think twice before we dive headlong into our next ‘twitter beef’ with someone who decided to get slick on something we tweeted or wherever you find yourself being engaged by stupidity. Your opinion will matter to the people it’s worth mattering to. It’s just the Internet People. Relax.
