Since this website is moving in a different direction…again(I know I know) I figured I would share some personal thoughts about the acting work I’ve done in the past.
I guess the best place to start would be with the most recent film I was involved in, “Death Around The Corner” written and directed by Raghav Suri.
This is first time I’ve been involved in a silent film, and it being a silent film is what initially sparked my interest in the project. I’ve always looked at silent film as one of the more challenging styles of film making: you have to be able to sell the emotions, thoughts, and personality traits of a character, all without uttering a single word.
What made it even more challenging is that out of the two characters that are in the film, I played both, so essentially it’s just me, my environment and the camera.
I’m a guy with an overactive imagination, so a story line where a writer’s creation comes to life isn’t too far off from any given scenario that runs through my head at any given point. I’m not one of those actors who needs to know the motivation behind each and every action or decision the character makes. Why is he imagining that the killer is stalking him? Is it all in his head? Then how do you explain what happens at the end? These are all questions for which I don’t have answers.
For me, I was just focused on trying to bring each scene to life as best as I could. What’s awesome about films like this is that it’s open for interpretation: you can get something very specific out of it, or nothing out of it, and both of those conclusions could be correct.
Overall, I’m glad Raghav approached me about doing the film. This is my second time working with him on a film project and I can honestly say he’s one of the best directors I’ve worked with so far. I’ll save the story for how him and I came to work with each other when I talk about the first film he featured me in, “Bittersweet.” Until then, Enjoy “Death Around The Corner.”
