LA Times: East Coast to the West Coast

So it’s been seven days (as of last Thursday) since I first touched down in L.A.X. Airport and amidst all the craziness of trying to get settled into a new place,I’ve got both the best and worst sleep that I’ve had in quite some time.

Yeah.. before I talk about anything else I want to talk about the type of sleep I’ve been getting.

As you may or may not know, there’s a 3 hr time difference between Miami and Los Angeles, with LA being the one that’s behind. So from getting to my new home at 1 a.m. (4 A.M. Miami Time) to now, my sleep pattern has been off.

From waking up at “8 A.M.”(11 am Eastern Time) to starting to feel sleepy by “9 P.M.” I’ve been a confusing mixture of well rested and exhausted. I’m trying my best to adjust but I blame myself for not allowing this entire life shift to set in before setting out on the next big adventure.. I have plans for an epic nap sometime next week.

Then there’s the unpacking.

I’ve had to unpack at least 3 different times as my stuff came in through the mail, and even though I didn’t bring EVERYTHING that I possibly could, hauling two big boxes and a TV upstairs to my room was no fun..Fast forward to a little over a week later, I’m finally unpacked and ready to start my exploration/dream chasing.

As far as grocery shopping, this will be the only free promotion I do until they cut the check but…Dollar Tree has saved this young man’s life by saving his wallet.

Like I always knew that Dollar Stores had the potential to be dope but the ones around my house were mostly crap. However, this particular Dollar Tree has a good 85% of the grocery items that I need to live my day-to-day, and what they don’t have, Ralph’s (California’s version of Publix… or is it Winn Dixie?) does.

Even though there’s probably a Wal-Mart in each and every city of the United States, the “Wal-Mart” I always knew and grew up with are actually pretty hard to find.

There’s a lot of “Wal-Mart Neighborhood Supermarkets” out here, which is obviously just the grocery portion of Wal-Mart instead of the “Super Wal-Mart” format I’d been used to over all these years. In a series of events too long for me to bother explaining, I found my first actual Wal-Mart in Longbeach,California which is about 45 mins from where I live.

Lastly, I was able to work a weekend down at the L.A. Convention Center thanks to a last-minute recommendation from my landlady. So I went from never being in sales on a Thursday to leading sales by Sunday. What was I selling you may ask? Just a truckload of Selfie Sticks.

Yup. Selfie Sticks. And mini flashlights… and credit card holders… and reading glasses, etc. Not bad for my first week on the West Coast right?
