Cross Campus Commercial (2017)

To mark the grand return to my “Behind the Scenes” Series I felt like it was only right to cover one of my proudest moments as an actor. That moment being my role in the “Cross Campus” Commercial.

I know there are people who will tell actors that they should approach every role like they’re talented enough to deserve it… which isn’t bad advice at all but at times I can’t help but be a little bit in disbelief when a director feels like I would be the perfect person to take on the role at hand, especially when I know there were several other people who had also auditioned for the role.

So taking all of those thoughts into consideration, when I got the confirmation for this project, I was hype.

For the record, this was my second Commercial but the scale felt bigger for several reasons. For one, we had to be fitted for specific wardrobe, I’m talking everything down to the shoes… and secondly and most importantly, we were kept separate from the actors who were playing the role of extras on set.

At the risk of sounding a little pretentious, getting a specific holding room felt great. Imagine catching countless flights in coach and then, for just one flight, you get bumped up to first class.

I’ve been an extra so many times that I took that moment in for all it was worth..

It was a one day shoot that ended up taking most of the day to complete due to every shot being captured on a single camera. It took longer but again, having a shot that was specifically set aside for my personal close up brought a feeling that hasn’t come around to often in my acting career.

Ultimately, the cast and crew were great to work with, and with all the ups and downs I’ve experienced with Los Angeles, this was a win that holds a special place in my heart.
