So the timeline on “My Daughter’s Dilemma” is a little interesting.
In fact, the whole story of my involvement in the film is interesting but I’ll just touch on a few highlights from this experience.
The film was shot in its entirety during the early part of 2015, and I was cast to play a character by the name of “Bahamas Bob.”
While I can’t say that I remember what the specific character changes were, I’ll never forget just how much my character seemed to change from the time I auditioned for the role, to when we had the table read, and then changed again once we started filming my scenes.
In short, “Bahamas Bob” was essentially written as a villainous character, and at some point between the table read and the shoot date, he’d now become somewhat of a ‘neutral’ character who had no other allegiances except to himself. This is something that can, and does, happen in film all the time. Characters can be reshaped and re-envisioned to fit the greater narrative of the story, and it’s up to the actor to adjust their motivations for the character as well.
Seeing as this was my first real “Film” experience outside of some student films in college, I didn’t adjust for the changes as much as I probably should have, but that’s one of the exciting parts of acting for me… you always have a chance to continue to grow and learn in your craft.
Unfortunately, I would have to wait almost 5 years from the time I filmed these scenes to even see the film but in some ways it was worth it.
“My Daughter’s Dilemma” can be streamed on Amazon Prime, which makes it a FIRST for me to have a role in a film that made it onto a streaming service. If you read this and decide to check it out, I’d love to know what you think.
